It’s Bourbon History Month—Let’s Celebrate! Sat, Sep 24, 22 | bourbon spirits September is one of my favorite months of the year. The weather’s awesome. College football’s getting into gear. And best of all, it’s Bourbon Heritage Month, four whole weeks to celebrate, enjoy, and imbibe America’s native spirit! While bourbon has been produced here in Kentucky for well over 200 years, it only became America’s native spirit in 1964 when the US Congress stepped in and made it official. It took 43 more years for the US Congress to step in again. On August 2, 2007, Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning filed a proposal that September become Bourbon Heritage Month. It warms my heart to let you know it was passed unanimously. If only everything in Congress was that easy! Here in Kentucky, there are so many ways for Bourbon lovers to celebrate. You can be adventurous and hit the Kentucky Bourbon Trail to visit distilleries old and new, some of them on very scenic drives at a great time of the year. From September 18 to 22, you can go to the Kentucky Bourbon Festival in historic Bardstown and enjoy a variety of events including tastings, dinners, cocktail competitions, art exhibits, live music and much more. But I get it, sometimes you might want to stay local and enjoy some things a little closer to home. Well, look no further than www.liquorbarn.com to find everything you need. Wheated bourbon, high-rye bourbon, single-barrel bourbon, small batch bourbon, bourbon cream, bourbon barrel-aged beer and wine—we’ve got it all!
