PROST! Get Ready for Oktoberfest 2019

Sat, Sep 24, 22  |  beer

Oktoberfest is right around the corner and if you can come up with your own Lederhosen and Dirndl, we can supply you with everything else you need to celebrate. Whether you are a traditionalist and stick to the six German breweries that can serve at Oktoberfest in Munich or like to branch out and try the ever-expanding selection of American Märzen, we have you covered.

Oktoberfest began in 1810 when Crown Prince Ludwig I of Bavaria was so proud to be marrying Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen that he invited the whole damn country to come celebrate with him. Everyone celebrated with food, dancing, and beer. There was even a horse race to mark the end of the festival, we can relate to that, right? They had so much fun that they decided to replicate the festival the following year and have been doing so ever since.

All the beer served in Oktoberfest tents in Munich must come from one of the following Munich breweries; Paulaner, Spaten, Hacker-Pschorr, Augustiner, Hofbräu, and Löwenbräu. Unfortunately, we can’t get Augustiner or Löwenbräu here in the states but as is the case for most things, Americans have overcompensated and created hundreds of our own expressions. Kentucky Brewers refuse to be outdone by anyone and we have several options available this year to celebrate an international festival, locally.
